Mount Magnet selected as preferred location for Mid-West LNG Hub
CEFA has selected Mount Magnet as the location for its proposed first WA-based LNG Hub.
The town is located in the heart of WA’s Mid-West region, around 350km east of Geraldton and operates as a major service centre for the region’s many remote mining operations.
Mount Magnet has excellent transport links, existing access to gas pipeline infrastructure, and proximity to remote power customers.
The region’s all-weather sealed roads are suitable for triple road trains travelling north to Cue, Meekatharra and Newman, east to the Goldfields, south to Perth and west to Geraldton.
Importantly for the Mid-West LNG Hub, the Mid-West Gas Pipeline runs just to the south of Mount Magnet providing a link to Western Australia’s vast natural gas resources in the North West via the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP).
CEFA is working with the local council to select the optimal site for the Mid-West LNG Hub.
