Mid-West LNG Hub given green light from WA State Government
Approval for the development by CEFA of the Mid-West LNG Hub at Mount Magnet, approximately 350 kilometres East of Geraldton in regional WA, was confirmed by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) in November 2020.
The Mid-West LNG Hub is the first significant development to be approved under new State Government planning reform legislation to support economic recovery from COVID-19.
Responding to the WAPC approval, CEFA’s Romano Bernhard said: “This is fantastic news for us and heralds an exciting new phase for CEFA and its development partners. We look forward to working with local industry, mining companies, and remote communities in the Mid-West, helping them to reduce their energy costs and lower greenhouse gas emissions through using LNG as a lower cost, and cleaner alternative to diesel”.
Construction on the Hub is expected to commence in early 2021, keeping CEFA on track to start delivering LNG during the third quarter of 2021.
